Under Armour’s Drive Pro SL has been named as the Best Spikeless Shoe 2024 by the UK’s biggest golf publication, Golf Monthly.

Lauded for its exceptional traction and stability, the Drive Pro SL beat out competition from all other leading brands in the industry to earn the Best Spikeless Shoe 2024 award from the title, which now carries a monthly reach in excess of 12 million views.

The Drive Pro SL, and its spiked brother, the Drive Pro, are engineered to provide the traction diagonal and lateral support golfers need to unlock the power of their natural swing, adding both distance and control for the wearer.

What makes the Drive Pro Series unique from other golf shoes is it includes Under Armour’s innovative Swing Support System TM. Developed with world-renowned biomechanist JJ Rivet, this revolutionary 3-layer structure supports the natural movement of the golf swing, delivering comfort and traction all in one. The Swing Support Strap features reinforcement in the upper to provide optimised 360-degree lock-in from lateral ball to medial instep. The midsole features Under Armour’s HOVR foam and more supportive Charged Cushioning that supports and guides the natural motion of the foot while exercising the golf swing.

Dan Parker, Head of Footwear Reviews at Golf Monthly, says: “The new Swing Support System and the hybrid TPU/Rubber outsole makes the Drive Pro SL the most complete Spikeless shoe of 2024 and that’s why it’s the winner in the Spikeless category. It offers a great blend of stability and support where you need it in the swing, as well as flex and comfort for walking the course. Under Armour have done an incredible job in redesigning this from the ground up, delivering the correct biomechanical support for on course performance.”

Notably for UA and its retail partners, the early buzz from the global golf media on these products has also been reflected in the UK market share data for Q1 from Golf Datatech. Under Armour cemented its position as the number 2 footwear brand in the UK Market in both Sales Value and Units Sold, achieving further growth over competitor brands to show double-digit growth versus the same period in 2023.

In the month of March, UA also grew its share to 20.1% (Sales Value) and 23.4% (Units Sold) in the on/off-course combined channel, with the UA Drive Pro SL featuring in the top 10 selling footwear models across the industry.*

Richard Palmer-Jones, Under Armour Golf UK, says: ‘2024 has seen the continued acceleration of our growth in the golf footwear market. The market response to our new S3 technology in Drive Pro has been incredible – the numerous 5 Star ratings and now industry awards have captured the consumers attention. We chose to challenge convention by proving that Footwear was equipment and not just fashion, and the early adopter has backed our brand. We could not be more excited by both the season ahead and what we are bringing in 2025’.
