Eleven TGI Golf Partners from across the UK and Ireland headed to Woburn Golf Club this week for an exclusive insight into FootJoy’s products and plans for 2027, alongside a behind-the-scenes look at how the brand fits footwear for its Tour Professionals.

The two-day visit included time at the Titleist Performance Centre, where Partners saw first-hand how World Number 68 Jordan Smith is fitted for his FootJoy shoes. Smith was fresh from a tied-fourth finish at the PGA Tour’s Baycurrent Classic in Japan.

Using FootJoy’s Volumental scanning technology, Partners were able to see the shoe-fitting process in action and gain a deeper understanding on how the right footwear makes a difference to stability and performance.

The group then headed out onto the grass to watch Smith demonstrate his ball-striking skills and see how different footwear can influence performance data.

FootJoy’s product team also provided an insight into its latest rainwear, giving Partners the opportunity to learn more about the range ahead of a round on Woburn’s renowned Dukes Course the following day.

Steve Robins, Director of Golf at Hull Golf Club and TGI Partner, said: “This has been an incredibly valuable and insightful two days with FootJoy and TGI, and I've come away with plenty of ideas and knowledge that I'm looking forward to sharing with my team back at the club.

“The shoe fitting experience was a particular highlight for me, enforcing just how important it is for us as stockists, to make professional fitting an essential part of the service we offer, ensuring we take the time to understand each individual golfer's needs and guide them through the fitting process, allowing us to deliver a far more personal and informed experience.

“Ultimately it's about going beyond simply selling a pair of shoes off the shelf, it's about giving our customers the confidence they are wearing the right footwear for their game, enhancing their comfort and helping them achieve the best possible performance out on the course.”

Adele McLean, Managing Director of TGI Golf Partnership, said: “Thank you to everyone at FootJoy and Woburn for a great couple of days. These visits provide our Partners with valuable opportunities to learn more about the brands they work with and take practical knowledge back into their businesses. Understanding the importance of footwear fitting and having the confidence to pass that knowledge on to customers can make a real difference in the Pro Shop.”

Gordon Browne, FJ Head of Field Sales, added: “Collaboration days like these are incredibly valuable, providing a platform to share insights, strategy, and education across the industry. The footwear category is a particularly exciting area right now, with performance gains from footwear becoming increasingly significant, as demonstrated by Jordan Smith. The opportunity lies in how we translate those benefits to committed golfers, and there is no better place to deliver that message than through the PGA Professional.

“TGI Golf continues to be an incredibly important partner for FootJoy, and we remain committed to working closely together to support our retail partners and drive success across this and our categories.”
